The Swedish Embedded Award is awarded annually to the best designs in embedded technology. This award was established to highlight and demonstrate the endless possibilities of electronics, as well as to stimulate and encourage more and more smart solutions that in turn create stronger competitiveness.
This year's Winner:
Serstech AB won the "Company" category, with the entry Serstech 100 Indicator.
Robert Persson and Henrik Jern won the "Student" category, with the entry Walnut Wave.
Zipwake AB won the category "Micro/Nano", with the contribution Zipwake.
The winners were announced in a ceremonial manner at ”The Embedded Dinner Party” on the evening after the first day of the Embedded Conference Scandinavia, which is being held at Kistamässan on November 3-4.
All nominated entries will be displayed there.
The Swedish Embedded Award was presented this year for the thirteenth time and, as usual, the prize was awarded in three categories:
Business for the best contribution from Swedish companies
Student for the best contribution from students at Swedish universities
Micro/Nano, for the best contribution containing micromechanics (company or student).
In the category Business (Enterprise Category) Serstech AB won with its contribution Serstech 100 Indicator, which is a handheld spectrometer that identifies substances quickly and easily. The system provides an alternative to the authorities' cumbersome, expensive and time-consuming routines. Customs, the Police, the Emergency Services and the Defence come into contact with unknown substances on a daily basis. Serstech has developed a spectrometer that identifies the substance within 30 seconds and tells what action should be taken.
In the category Student (Student Category) was won by Robert Persson and Henrik Jern from Halmstad University with the entry Walnut Waves. The student prize consists of a scholarship of 50,000 SEK. Walnut Waves is a complex product, which is intended to facilitate and reduce the costs of healthcare work with diagnosing epilepsy. The product consists of a headband with integrated EEG technology. The product name is EpBand.
In the category Micro/Nano (Micro/Nano Category) was won by Zipwake AB (product owner) with development partner Tritech AB, with the entry Zipwake, which is a fully automatic trim system for boats, based on interceptor technology for planing and semi-planing boats. The product allows the boat to come to planing faster and thus consumes less fuel, but also adjusts the boat's tilt, for better comfort and increased driving pleasure.
About the Swedish Embedded Award
The prize is established to stimulate and encourage creative applications of embedded technology, which in turn contribute to creating new and better solutions in a number of similar areas. The designs span everything from industrial applications to communications and medical electronics. The requirement is that the contributions should contain built-in intelligence and be commercially interesting.
