The Swedish Security Service provides information about Russian technology acquisition

Products and technology from Sweden are re-exported to companies and other actors in the Russian military industry or with other connections to the Russian military. In order to circumvent restrictions, imports are often carried out using networks of companies and individuals based in other countries.

The Swedish Security Service is now informing companies in the technology sector about Russia's ongoing procurement of technology and products from Sweden.

Need for customer knowledge and effective compliance programs

In the document ”Russian technology acquisition” informs the Security Service about Russia's ongoing procurement of products and technology from Sweden for end use by the Russian military and what companies need to consider to avoid violations of economic sanctions and export control regulations.

”Russia’s ongoing procurement of products and technology from Sweden poses a threat to national security. This threat, together with the related commercial and criminal risks that such trade entails, underscores the need for good customer knowledge and effective implementation of internal compliance programs.”
