New chairman: Mikael Joki

At Svensk Elektronik's annual meeting on June 1, Maria Månsson resigned as chairwoman, a position she had held since Svensk Elektronik was founded in 2010.

Maria was warmly thanked for her solid contributions to the association and the industry. For many years, even before 2010 in the then Swedish Electronics Industry Association, she has been involved with great commitment and enthusiasm in developing the association and its operations to what it is today. At the meeting, Mikael Roots and Bo Holmgren were also thanked for their valued contributions to the board.

– ”It has been fantastic fun and inspiring to work with Maria and she has been a rock not only for the association, but also for me in my work.” says Lena Norder, CEO of the industry organization.

Maria's presidency has been characterized by a strategic ambition to highlight the importance of the electronics industry for Sweden and improve the conditions for companies in the industry. Maria has been involved in many industry issues over the years. An important task was to bring about the research and innovation program Smarter Electronics Systems, where Maria was part of the internal working group whose efforts were directly decisive for the program to come to fruition.

– I am very proud to have had the honor of leading the industry organization for one of Sweden's most important areas. It has been an exciting and intense journey, where the world, the industry and the association have changed at a rapid pace. The importance of the industry's significance for Swedish competitiveness and global future issues cannot be emphasized enough. I am therefore particularly pleased that Mikael Joki is now taking over the helm, and feel great confidence that the association has ended up in the best hands, says Maria Månsson.

Another important area that the association has actively worked on over the years is monitoring and influencing changes to the environmental and product directives and regulations that govern the conditions for our companies. Directives and regulations such as RoHS, WEEE, REACH, EMC, RED and most recently the chemical tax on certain electronics. Happily, Maria will continue to support the association in this work. She will also lead our Directive Day event in the future, where current regulations are reviewed and the authorities are present.

Mikael Joki was elected as the new chairman of Svensk Elektronik.
– ”Maria has made a very appreciated contribution as the first chair of Svensk Elektronik. We now have a good platform for continued work. I am both happy and excited about the trust to take over as chair. We are facing continued rapid development in the electronics industry with challenges such as future skills supply. Svensk Elektronik is an important player in the industry and a natural meeting place for companies throughout the value chain,” says Mikael Joki.

Like Maria, Mikael has been on the board of Svensk Elektronik since 2010 and also before that in the Electronics Industry Association and has been wholeheartedly committed to the development of the industry for many years. Mikael is the owner and CEO of Eskilstuna Elektronikpartner, a development and manufacturing company of industrial electronics.
