Profiled research

Halmstad University conducts research within two overarching focus areas, health innovation and smart cities and communities, based on three strong postgraduate education areas: information technology, innovation science and health and lifestyle. Within these there are multidisciplinary research programs, with a focus on societal challenges. The research is value-creating, innovation-driving and societally developing. The research has high societal relevance and contributes to solving societal challenges, often in close collaboration with external actors. Research, education and collaboration enrich each other and create vital and international knowledge arenas.

Collaboration for development

The university actively participates in societal development through collaboration with both business and the public sector. Students encounter society and the labor market in a number of different ways during their education, for example through project courses, work-based education or degree theses. A large part of the research is carried out in collaboration or co-production with companies, organizations or the public sector, with a strong focus on societal benefit. The university has established collaboration agreements with some particularly important partners in research and education, for example Getinge Sterilization AB, Stena Recycling AB and Region Halland.
