Electronics production
Electronics have been identified as a critical vulnerability to ensure Europe's security and competitiveness
The total value chain for electronics is so much bigger than just semiconductors and therefore needs to be considered from a holistic perspective 'from silicon to electronics systems'.’.
Svensk Elektronik has therefore launched ' in collaboration with the industry organization IPC and several other players.’Critical Electronics Supply Initiative’'. We are now continuing our work, including national collaboration and continued discussions with the EU Commission.
The study '’Electronic Manufacturing Industry Study: Securing Europe's electronics ecosystem carried out by IPC together with a large number of companies in Europe demonstrated that initiatives need to be taken at EU level to prevent Europe from losing competitiveness in several areas, including electronic systems, PCBs and EMS. This led to the ”Call to action”"IPC and several other players launched earlier in 2024.
After this initiative started, Swedish Electronics has taken on the leadership role in coordinating actors in both business and the public sector to develop a Swedish strategy. With us in this, we have several of the large companies with whom we have individual meetings, and we arrange open follow-up meetings for National collaboration on strategy for PCB and electronics production, where all stakeholders are welcome to participate.
