Sustainable development

The green transition

The green transition must accelerate. Electronics are a crucial enabler – the necessary digitalization, as well as the electrification of our society, is only possible when we have access to electronics. We can also benefit from all the benefits of AI when we have access to data from sensors or energy-efficient electronic components.

The Swedish electronics industry is a key player in our transition to a digital and sustainable future. By 2036, Sweden will be a leader in the green transition within the European electronics industry. This agenda shows the way.

But the electronics industry itself also has a lot of challenges and several opportunities, seen from a sustainability perspective. Svensk Elektronik raises the issue of sustainability for the industry and offers opportunities for companies to increase their competence in the area.

Svensk Elektronik also works to highlight an approach that means that the Green Transition represents an opportunity for Swedish electronics companies to position themselves within green technology.

Digital product passports

Svensk Elektronik, together with Solai AI and member company Acte Solutions, is running the project partly funded by Vinnova. Ecolife Passport – Advanced digitalization for digital value chains.

The project's goal is to develop an advanced digital platform for managing Digital Product Passports that meets the EU's upcoming legal requirements related to sustainable consumption and supporting a circular economy. Svensk Elektronik is committed to developing this advanced AI-based digital solution, as we strive to facilitate directive compliance for our members and for the electronics industry. This legal requirement for electronics will gradually come into force starting in 2026.

The solution we are working on in the project aims to reduce waste, extend product lifespan and ensure compliance with environmental regulations by offering a user-friendly interface for both product owners and consumers.
