Response to the consultation on the EMC Directive

Some time ago we received a consultation on the proposal for a new regulation on electromagnetic compatibility. This proposal will affect many of our member companies and we have therefore provided our views. In summary:

”"The Swedish Electronics industry association is positive about the revised EMC Directive 2014/30/EU, which harmonises definitions and principles and is an adaptation to the New Legislative Framework (NLF). It is of utmost importance that equipment placed on the market meets the protection requirements.".

The proposal for a new regulation on electromagnetic compatibility is mainly good and implements the directive as intended, with one major exception: The proposed penalty fee is unreasonably high and the wording is unclear and leaves room for arbitrariness. The proposal also hits small businesses harder than large companies. These paragraphs should be reworded or removed.”
